Infiniflow Operational Services

The Infiniflow product suite consists of the Infiniflow Service Fabric and the optional Runtime Services, Operational Services and Developer Tools.

The Infiniflow Service Fabric is the foundation of the product suite, providing the distributed runtime for your composite applications and Infiniflow Runtime and Operational Services. The Developer Tools are provided to help develop new applications, and migrate existing applications.

Operational Services

Infiniflow Operational Services are optional services that compliment the Infiniflow Service Fabric runtime and enhance the day-to-day operation of the Service Fabric.

  The Fabric Administrator

An intuitive Management GUI is included free of charge with Infiniflow called the Fabric Administrator. This provides the ability to:

  • load and unload SCA System documents and their associated OSGi bundles, to and from the Service Fabric's resilient CDS repository,
  • start, stop and modify runnable Systems ,
  • manage and monitor the members of the compute resource population which together comprise the Service Fabric.

The Fabric Administrator fully leverages the Service Fabric's roles and authentication framework, allowing privileges to be assigned on an individual user or System basis .

  Infiniflow Virtual Resource Market (VRM)

The Infiniflow Virtual Resource Market (VRM) service ensures the most efficient dynamic distribution of application components across the available compute resource. The Virtual Resource Market relies on Infiniflow's dynamic provisioning capability, and operates at many levels, from basic capability matching through to sophisticated 'price' based negotiations .

For any market there needs to be supply and demand, and for Infiniflow VRM, supply is limited to the available compute resource and demand is created by the business application requirements.

At the simplest level, capability negotiation includes metrics such as owner, chipset, operating system, memory capability or external 'gateway' functionality (e.g. database access). At the more sophisticated level, suitable resources calculate an offer price for running the required functionality for periods of time, allowing the application to review the 'bids' and select the most appropriate resource.

This Virtual Resource Market capability offers huge benefits to the enterprise, the Service Provider and SaaS markets. Not only does it ensure the optimum use of resources to meet application demands, it also provides the ability for owners of the physical infrastructure to 'charge' on a usage basis, delivering cost efficiencies and savings for both provider and consumer.

Infiniflow VRM can also be implemented with third party grid computing silos, adding flexibility to existing investments, and allowing resources to be efficiently shared throughout the enterprise rather than just within dedicated specific business units.

  Infiniflow Utility Services

Infiniflow Utility Services provide a GUI based tool for comprehensive Audit and Chargeback capabilities.

As a by-product of the model-driven approach that it uses, Infiniflow automatically produces and records the raw data for Audit and Chargeback reports. This data provides a historical account of all activities across the Infiniflow Service Fabric, and can be reviewed per user, administrator, application, runtime and compute resource.

The configurable GUI allows an auditor to view all runtime changes to the Infiniflow Service Fabric, including system usage, modifications and state changes, and the individual who carried out the changes.

From a Chargeback perspective, the GUI offers a reporting tool for analyzing the historical use of the Service Fabric and the compute resources that have contributed to it. The capabilities are fine-grained and user customizable over user definable time periods, providing an insight into the aggregate demands of business units and their individual applications, and single or multiple compute resources by type or by owner.

Also included is the ability to automatically generate quarterly or monthly usage bills which, assuming that the appropriate cost metrics have been established, can be calculated by time of usage and actual costs of usage.
