codeCauldron

An open source software community that offers a unique "shared success, shared reward" economic model for developers.

Established in May 2006, the codeCauldron community is a directed open source community that is interested in addressing the fundamental problems associated with designing the next generation of massively distributed adaptive system.

Rather than starting with a particular architectural bias or allegiance, the codeCauldron community is encouraged to look for guidance from the many complex adaptive systems with which we interact on a daily basis. Some 20+ years of academic research into biological and more generally Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS), provide us with the foundations and context for the codeCauldron community endeavors.

Open source software has become mainstream technology for enterprises, but where the success of an open source community is often based on gifts of time and intellectual capital of countless volunteers, the financial rewards are usually realized by only a few members or 3rd parties who look to make financial profit from other peoples work.

CodeCauldron seeks to address this situation and offers a more equitable financial model that gives community members the opportunity to chose how they are recognized and acknowledged for their contributions and offer the option of sharing in the financial rewards generated by the success of the open source software marketplace and their contributions to it - Shared Success, Shared Rewards.

The codeCauldron open source software community, initially sponsored by Paremus but intended to shift to a member-driven community, is focused on developing the next-generation of adaptive, evolvable enterprise-class distributed service platforms based on service-oriented, component-based technology. Members will be involved in enhancing the foundation distributed service framework technology provided by Paremus, the Newton project, and developing components that extend the basic framework to deliver general business and application-specific functionality.

Working with codeCauldron developers, the Paremus Enterprise Component Marketplace (ECM) offers a certification, distribution and support channel for codeCauldron component projects. Developers can utilize Paremus for marketing and first-line support of their ECM-certified enterprise component leaving them to focus on enhancing their technology and building new components.

Paremus customers can be assured in selecting from the range of enterprise-class components that have been rigorously tested and are offered with professional support. In addition to enterprise components from the codeCauldron community, the Paremus ECM offers components developed by Paremus and other non-codeCauldron partners.
